With the creation of a new royal household for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex comes some new job openings — and “head of communications” is a big deal. So who is Sara Latham?
As Meghan and Harry start to distance themselves from Prince William and Duchess Kate, publicity is important. Sara Latham, their most recent hire, is former campaign advisor to Hillary Clinton. According to royal correspondent Omid Scobie, she will be acting as press secretary for the royal couple, reporting directly to the Queen’s communications team.
She took her role shortly after the birth of Harry and Meghan’s first child, Archie (Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor). According to Scobie, the couple took a liking to her “firm-but-fair” approach to the job.
Her appointment is part of a gradual process to transition the Sussex family out of Kensington Palace, and away from their Cambridge relatives professionally.
They’ll still be close to the family, though. According to a tweet by royal reporter Lizzie Robinson, “The Queen has given permission for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to base their Household Office at Buckingham Palace.” Sara Latham will be one of the core staff working in the palace, ensuring Harry and Meghan put their best foot forward during the transition.
So who is this mystery media manager? Here are 4 things you should know about Sara Latham, the new head of communications for the Royal House of Sussex.
