If you haven’t already noticed, Meghan Markle has a go-to pose, and body language experts think there’s something behind it. But why does the Duchess always look the same when she is being photographed? Could it be the Duchess received some training as a part of her new royal duties?
Of course, the former-starlet has had some training when it came to preparing for the spotlight, but Meghan’s under a whole new lens since marrying Prince Harry. Her stance is a perfect mix between composure and relaxation. The royal always maintains her hands clasped with one another and centered in front of her. And, people have pointed it out. Not even her baby bump transformed her body language.
Body language expert Blanca Cobb told Cosmopolitan recently, “What happens when you stand a lot? You have a go-to move, something that makes you feel comfortable, and it becomes a habit. It becomes part of you, and you don’t think about it anymore—particularly for someone who’s in the spotlight.” The same could be said for Kate Middleton, who’s adopted a similar pose.
Cobb said, “For Meghan, having that go-to move serves a couple of purposes. It’s almost like an invisible shield—like a barrier to protect herself. Her hands are clasped to give herself some more comfort and certainty when she’s in the spotlight.”
Rumors were circulating back in May of 2018, that Meghan would be taking “Duchess Lessons” from The Queen’s senior aide Samantha Cohen. Perhaps Cohen advised Meghan on royally appropriate poses during what a source said would be, “Six months of listening.” While it is assumed that the lessons did take place, there has been no official confirmation about whether or not her standing pose was part of them.
