Meghan and Harry are gearing up for a holiday in Rome this weekend as they fly in to celebrate designer Misha Nonoo’s wedding.
Though the couple has never confirmed it, Misha is widely speculated to be the friend that introduced Meghan to Harry. Meghan and Misha have been friends for several years after meeting at a lunch in Miami. In fact, when Meghan was first photographed holding hands with Harry 2017, she was wearing a shirt design of Nonoo’s.
Misha also has a prior connection to Harry. She was previously married to Alexander Gilkes, a close college friend of his. While Nonoo has declined to comment, “Harry did confirm in his engagement interview that the couple was set up by a ‘mutual friend’ who Meghan later identified as female,” according to Cosmopolitan. Given these connections, it seems fairly likely that she had something to do with getting our favorite royal couple together.
Nonoo is marrying American oil tycoon Michael Hess in a ceremony on Sunday, September 22. Before the ceremony, though, the couple has celebrations planned for the entire weekend. These include a party at Italian film studio Cinecitta, a historical site where some of Italy’s most famous filmmakers have worked.
With Meghan, Harry, and Archie set to depart for Africa on Monday, some have speculated whether they will have time to attend the ceremony itself on Sunday. “Considering they’d likely have baby Archie in tow,” said Cosmopolitan, “it’s understandable that they might choose to forgo the wedding in the interests of him (and their energy levels).”
However, Hello! reports that Meghan and Harry have left Archie at home for the wedding. In addition, a source told Page Six, “There is no way that Meghan wouldn’t be at Misha’s wedding — no way at all.”
