It was the Duchess of Sussex’s birthday on Sunday, and posts of birthday wishes blew up the internet. Let’s take a look at some of the most notable birthday messages. Happy Birthday to Meghan Markle!
To honor Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posted a picture of the two couples and Prince Charles on their Kensington Palace Instagram page. Alongside the photo they wrote, “Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duchess of Sussex today!”
Additionally, the message included a red balloon emoji. Prince Harry and Meghan began using emojis in their own birthday messages to the Cambridge family this year.
As with most public communications between the Cambridges and Sussexes, the birthday post has sparked internet controversy.
While some royal fans are praising Prince William and Kate for “taking the high road” others are finding ways to view the post as a dig. With the recent release of Meghan’s Vogue issue, rumors are flying that the Sussexes discreetly slammed the Cambridges.
If Prince Harry and Meghan truly criticized the Cambridges through Vogue, this birthday post could be Prince William and Kate “taking the high road.”
Yet, others are finding ill-wishes in the seemingly sweet post. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are being slammed for using a group picture on the birthday post. It is thought this was a dig at Meghan, and that she should be the star of the picture.
Our thoughts? Non-existent drama is being discovered. We took this post as a simple, sweet birthday post. Nothing more or less.
The joint Instagram page for the Sussex family @Sussexroyal also posted in honor of Meghan. A picture of Meghan was captioned, “Wishing HRH The Duchess of Sussex a very Happy Birthday.”
But Prince Harry added a very sweet personal note. The message read, “Happy birthday to my amazing wife. Thank you for joining me on this adventure!’- Love, H.”
The official Instagram page for the royal family also wished Meghan Markle a happy birthday. This account represents the Queen and other members of the family. A post read “Happy Birthday to the Duchess of Sussex. The Duchess was born on this day in 1981.”
Also, Prince Charles and Camilla posted their own wish for the Duchess of Sussex. The couple shared a slideshow of images depicting themselves with Meghan. This slideshow was captioned, “A very Happy Birthday to HRH The Duchess of Sussex.”
Both of these posts also contained celebratory emojis. Are emojis the new big thing within the royal family? We think yes.
Most importantly, we wish Meghan a very happy birthday and many more years to come of happiness and success.
