The moment we’ve all been anticipating has finally arrived, and it nearly broke the internet. Meghan Markle, our beloved Dutchess of Sussex, has finally met the queen… of pop.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended the U.K. premiere of The Lion King on Sunday in London, where they met many big stars, including two of our favorites Beyoncé and Jay Z.
According to Vanity Fair, the logistics of how Meghan and Beyoncé met are fairly unusual. The Sussexes were running late, yet Beyoncé and Jay Z actually arrived after the royals — breaking royal protocol.
Despite this, Meghan greeted Beyoncé and Jay Z with a warm hug and chatted with them for around a minute before Prince Harry came and enthusiastically joined the conversation. The result of this amazing meet-up: countless videos and pictures blowing up the press.
While it was difficult to make out what was discussed when Prince Harry and Meghan happily talked with Jay-Z and Beyoncé, Daily Mail reporter Rebecca English transcribed some of their discussion.
Beyoncé shared her thoughts on baby Archie and the couple. “The baby, so beautiful. We love you guys.” Additionally, when discussing his twins being at home, Jay Z even gave the royal family some helpful parenting advice, “always find time for yourself.”
While this was not Meghan’s first rodeo on the red carpet due to her background as an actress, it was very exciting to have the couple appear at the event while abiding by the protocol that comes with being royal.
Seth Rogen who voiced Timon in The Lion King. According to Entertainment Tonight, he joked, “I guess I’m excited to meet the royals. There’s a lot of protocol. It makes me think I don’t have enough protocol. I don’t know what it takes to create protocol, but I’m going to look into creating more protocol.” All jokes aside, the Sussexes appearance at the premiere was appreciated by the movie cast.
