For weeks now there has been speculation that Meghan and Harry might be looking to move away from the UK. With their ongoing battle with the British tabloids, we can’t say we blame them for wanting to get away! Now, a source close to the royals has told ET Online that Meghan and Harry are “looking very seriously at spending extended periods of time in Commonwealth countries in their role as Commonwealth Ambassadors.” While this doesn’t sound like a permanent move, it seems clear that the coming years will see Meghan and Harry travel away from the UK quite a bit. Here are the locales that might be serving as second homes for the royal family in the future.
We’ve reported before on rumors that the Sussexes have been eyeing the Great White North as a possible getaway. Meghan has a lot of history in the country, having lived in Toronto during her Suits days. Toronto is also home to Meghan’s close friend, fashion designer Jessica Mulroney. Jessica was reportedly an early supporter of Meghan and Harry’s relationship. She even hosted them for dinner at her house to help them avoid unwanted press attention.
Malibu, to be precise. The Express reported back in September that Meghan and Harry were interested in buying a home in the swanky beachside community. A home in Malibu would place the royals in close proximity to Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, who works as a yoga instructor and social worker in Los Angeles. Recent reports have speculated that Meghan, Harry, and Archie are planning to spend this Thanksgiving in L.A. with grandma Doria.
Meghan, Harry, and Archie just completed a royal tour of Africa, and by all accounts, the trip was a resounding success. In the upcoming documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, Harry comments that Cape Town, South Africa “would be an amazing place to base ourselves.” Judging by how well-received the royals were during their trip, Africa would be more than happy to have them!
The Caribbean islands have also been speculated as a possibility for our restless royals. Harry visited the region back in 2016 (before sneaking off to see Meghan) and seems to have had quite a good time. He even met pop superstar Rihanna during his visit, who remains good friends with the royals to this day.
Meghan and Harry took a trip down under last year for the Invictus Games. In fact, it was during the visit that the couple first announced that they were expecting baby Archie, prompting love and support from the Australian people. With such a warm reception, it makes sense that Meghan and Harry might consider returning, this time with Archie in tow.
The possibilities are endless for our favorite royals. One thing’s for sure: wherever the Sussexes end up will be a brighter place thanks to Duchess Meghan’s stunning radiance.
